Friends, I’ll be participating as a panelist in a free webinar on Tuesday sponsored by the Simone Weil Center for Political Philosophy, where I serve on the Advisory Board. Here is the invitation in case you want to watch it. Feel free to share this with others. There are also links below to some recent essays published in Landmarks, the journal of the Simone Weil Center, which may be of interest…

About the lecturer, Stefano Zamagni: In his presentation, Stefano Zamagni will critically consider the Western response to the epidemic from the perspective of an anthropology informed by Christian personalism. The Italian-born Zamagni is a Doctor of Theology student at the John Paul II Institute and a student of Michael Hanby and David C. Schindler. He received his master’s degree in philosophy at the University of Turin, Italy, and was ordained a Catholic priest in the summer of 2021. (See also his essay, below, just published in Landmarks.)

Boris Mezhuev, Svetlana Lourié: Fighter for Historical Idealism
NOTE: We were greatly grieved to learn from our Russian friend and colleague Boris Mezhuev of the death in August of Prof. Svetlana Lourié, the eminent Russian scholar for whom we had enormous respect and affection. Lourié had suffered from several serious ailments in recent times, made worse, it is easy to assume, by the recent campaign of slander against her (a matter described by Prof. Mezhuev in his essay above). While the ultimate cause of her death appears to have been a heart attack, she was also suffering from Covid 19. If you have not yet read her prescient essay, “The Road to Transhumanism: How Man Became a Project,” published a year ago, it awaits your attention in Landmarks.
Will this panel discussion be available for viewing somewhere soon? I assume it was recorded.
