Please note that Japan is generally considered to have one of the best health care systems in the world; and on nearly every index that tracks such things, scores consistently better than the USA.
No vaccine mandate. No vaccine discrimination. And this from a nation frequently criticized or stereotyped in the West for valuing conformity over liberty, and the social group over the individual person.
Might we consider the possibility that the Japanese health officials sincerely want the best possible outcomes for all their citizens? That they seek the most effective way to deal with the challenges presented by Covid? Hence, consent not coercion. Respect for citizens.
