There was a professor at Chicago Kent School of Law (now IIT), which I attended, named Lori B. Andrews, who tried to explore the legal complexities and nuance of various reproductive technology issues in the 90's, but the technology kept leaping far beyond the development of the law.
This also coincided with the advent of Clintonian neoliberalism and its attempt to reconcile profit and rent-seeking with liberal ethics and pluralism.
There are reckonings to be had between technologies and the life-cycle, as recently demonstrated by Tucker Carlson and Michael Shellenberger's interviews with opponents of euthanasia which is increasing with alarm velocity. Canada's MAD 2.0. is now making euthanasia available to physically ok young people with mental disorders and no longer pretends to adhere to the End of Life, "mercy-killing" model most persons were sold.
Commodification of organ transplants and surrogacy are also areas of deep concern, as there is nothing of monetary value on earth that isn't subject to theft, embezzlement, fraud, extortion, blackmail etc.
I watched your lecture where you referenced the infusion of human DNA into pigs and pondered at what point may the pigs of human consciousness and what would that mean. I appreciate your work because you put forth real ethical dilemmas for people to ponder with no dogmatic solutions.

This is terrifying. Is the CEO and scientist a father now? Creator? This has been tried before with eugenics. It's just a more technical version. So eugenics 2.0 I suppose. The randomness that occurs at conception is what makes life go! I have 7 children with the same genetics. But they all show different traits. The arrogance of "the scientists," not actual scientists, but the co-opted ones is never ending. We are not wiser than nature. This is foolishness that will lead to harms for humanity. Oh, and killing the embryos that aren't as designed...stop it. Stop it right now. It's peculiar how much people rail against nazi's, but are racing to actually do the exact same thing as their stated mission. It's just cleaner when it's in a tube or petri dish rather than a gas chamber. No blood, no foul.
Sorry I don’t see anything wrong with picking out the healthiest genes or gender, you have to realize the nurture part of the equation. When having children naturally and nudging things like a serial killer can still happen so how does that play any part of the child’s mind? If you use God as part of your equation then why weren’t the same children become that way. We need a bigger sample size to create and get real answers . Why do some of the children in foster become serial millers and well to don’t never see the donor. You think the children are completely different from other children and naturally are perfect !’ We have criminals in all sectors of society so that can’t be the natural or pick your own babies. Just because someone has dark skin doesn’t mean they can’t get a great career and their color of skin makes them not the right to work. I have a lawsuit against the company right now for it now and I’m what people call white (I have a problem sticking people into one box into the same box. Oh you’re a woman go left . Oh no you have dark color skin so you got into another box. Where I worked I won my case because she was the person who could fire anyone in any department like she did to me. She was Hispanic and she fired every race that different colors than what she was.? The company still didn’t stop working there,? They had to pay me a good chunk of money though. Funny thing was since my replacement was Hispanic she stole from the company over a half million dollars and she ended up in prison. Yay! Karma is bitch… lol I’m was glad to help the process the point across. First the company wanted me back! Oh really and oh course we will pay more, but let her stay. Nope! Then we will fire her too. Nope! More money and she’s fired. Nope! They asked me why.! I told them that they didn’t back me and couldn’t care less before firing me so what’s changed according.their when she wanted to fire someone else.? Nothing changed so Nope!! She never asked anyone to help her department so Nope!! Dummmy didnt know I spoke Spanish and still spend my so absolute I really be the would have made me angry again. Long story short! Be nice to your employees because you never know what you or what is coming next. Of course if they really suck and you want them gone then fire them.
