These remarks are much appreciated. It's interesting that Mr. Maier looks favorably at John Courtney Murray. I see the accommodation of Catholics to liberal society, coming alongside the upheaval in Catholic liturgy, as one of the reasons Catholics are unable to mount an effective counter to the ever advancing pagan utilitarian society. Why can't we all get along? was the bumper sticker of that time. Well, we can't because Our Lord said we can't.

The encouraging change in recent decades is the growth of Catholic families who are done with the 60's pabulum of their parents. They come filling the pews with children at the Latin Mass. They see the liberal experiment as a direct threat to their children, and they don't wait for bishops, priests, and high-thinking intellectuals to provide them a solution. "And from the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent bear it away." (Mt 11:12) It's that old no-compromise Catholic mind, and I love it.

It does feel it's all slipping away..I notice we are negative most of the time to everything we see. Home is our sanctuary, was raised this way and it is the best haven.
